Take the Pledge

AAA Watch

In July, Governor Gray Davis of California signed legislation which will regulate the greenhouse gas emissions of California automobiles. Environmental leaders have viewed this as potentially the most significant global warming legislation ever enacted (with substantial potential to improve fuel efficiency and reduce dependence on oil, as well). It's not yet clear whether the Bush Administration will stick to its "states rights" principles or attempt to prevent the California law, which was pretty much opposed by the entire "highway" lobby, from going into effect.

AAA expressed its "concerns" about the legislation so you know where they were coming from. At the same time, the legislation was endorsed by every major environmental group in the state.
