Straighten Up and Drive Right - If you have a manual transmission, don’t downshift to slow down. This wastes gas. Use your brakes instead.
- The most fuel-efficient way to go over a speed bump is to take your foot off the accelerator in advance then roll over it slowly. Approaching it at full speed, slamming on the brakes, and then accelerating sharply afterwards wastes fuel and momentum.
- Try to avoid drifting side to side while driving. Driving straight reduces rolling resistance, as well as the total distance you have to travel.
