Better World Club: Year in Review, 2013

BWC Year in Review, 2013

We are nearing the end of 2013, and it has been a great year for the Better World Club.

Advocacy Highlights:

Here are a few of the programs and campaigns we supported this year.  BWC supported Oregon's Clean Fuels Program and the national Renewable Fuels Standard.  We promoted California's successful campaign for a 3-foot passing rule around bicyclists.  And we sponsored transportation awareness though the World Naked Bike Ride.

Testimonial Video:

This year, we started a video testimonial campaign, and, with our first two submissions, we created our very first video, our Epic Testimonial Video!  We also have a commercial coming out in 2014 (but it was finished this year, so it counts).  Submit your video testimonial, and share your love of your auto club!

Corporate Promise:

This year, Better World Club has donated nearly $16,000 this year.  We also purchased 3,400 tons of carbon offsets this year which were used for the following:

  • 1400 tons to offset insurance clients
  • 25 Tons to offset national park passes
  • 50 tons to offset the office/staff travel (which is way high given the amount of travel that we do)
  • 44 tons:  To cover BWC service calls

Monetary donations were made to the following organizations:

  • League of Conservation Voters
  • Climate Solutions
  • Push America
  • World Naked Bike Ride
  • Amy Roloff Charity Foundation
  • Rails to Trails

As we mentioned earlier this year, the bicyclist personal injury insurance policy that was attached to our Bicycle Roadside Assistance was dissolved; however, our dedication to finding and creating valuable insurance products for cyclists will not end with the new year. We are constantly in talks and/or searching, and will continue to do so till we achieve what we have set out to do.

In the News:

Better World Club was nominated for a green business award though Green America. The award was given to a couple of great companies, and we are proud to have been a nominee.

BWC also started a carbon offset campaign this year, offsetting the carbon emission of D.C.'s finest politicians in Congress. We want to raise awareness of the carbon offset industry as well as encourage the development of the industry here in the states.
