When Deciding Whether Or Not It's Time To Change A Filter You Should "Air" On The Side Of Caution

- Change your engine's air filter at least as often as the manufacturer recommends. Swapping out a dirty or clogged air filter can improve your fuel efficiency by up to 10%.

- Some cars have cabin air filters, which, as the name implies, filter air going into the car's cabin. Clogged cabin air filters increase resistance and decrease your fuel economy.

- The intake air diversion thermostat also needs to be replaced periodically. Not all cars have them, but if this breaks it will reduce your fuel efficiency and cost a pretty penny to boot.
