Summary: 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SEAT BELT IS TIGHT AND STIFF. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED IN ORDER TO BE COMFORTABLE, SHE HAS TO PUSH THE SEAT BACK AND INCLINE THE BACK OF THE SEAT. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE IS NOT TALL ENOUGH TO DRIVE THAT WAY. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE SEAT BELT COULD NOT BE MODIFIED. THE VEHICLE ALSO HAD A VIBRATION. THE TIRES WERE BALANCED TWICE, THERE WAS A LITTLE IMPROVEMENT, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE VIBRATION WAS NORMAL BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS POWERFUL. *JB

Summary: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MADE FOR ANYONE OF SMALL STATURE. THE VEHICLE PRESENTED NO VISIBILITY BEYOND THE FRONT WINDOW WHEN THE SEAT WAS ADJUSTED TO ALLOW THE CONTACT TO REACH THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS. THIS ALSO CAUSED THE SEAT BELT TO CUT ACROSS THE NECK OF THE CONTACT, RUBBING IT RAW. THE REAR WINDOW HAD A CONSTANT REFLECTIVE HAZE WHICH, WHEN COUPLED WITH THE OVERSIZED HEAD RESTS IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, OBSCURED THE REAR VIEW OF THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHERE THE DEALER OFFERED NO RESOLUTION. THE DEALER DETERMINED DUE TO THE CONTACT'S STATURE, THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE.

Summary: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED UPON ACCELERATION FROM A COMPLETE STOP AS WELL AS WHEN IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THIS WAS NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION FOR THE VEHICLE.

Summary: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH "SCATTER LIGHT" TO SHOW SIGNS OR PEDESTRIANS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BULB WITH A BRIGHTER BULB, BUT THE LIGHT WAS STILL NOT SUFFICIENT. THE CONTACT INSTALLED ANOTHER SET OF BRIGHTER BULBS, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS.

Summary: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A MAJOR DELAY IN THE VEHICLE'S RESPONSE WHEN THE ACCELERATION PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND WHILE MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT TURNS. THE SERVICE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO SOLUTION WAS PROVIDED.

Summary: I PURCHASED A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY IN MAY OF 2006. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR A FEW WEEKS IT WAS INCREASINGLY HARDER AND HARDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES VERY CLOSE TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO MY NEAREST TOYOTA DEALER. I WENT TO ATLANTIC TOYOTA IN AMITYVILLE, N.Y. AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND HAVE HAD OTHER FAMILY AND FRIENDS DRIVE THE CAR AS WELL. THEY TOO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE LONG BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL AND DIFFICULTY IN STOPPING THE CAR. I DRIVE WITH TWO KIDS AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR. I BOUGHT A TOYOTA FOR ITS RELIABILITY AND SAFETY AND BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE VEHICLE FEELS IN BRAKING I DO NOT FEEL SAFE. I AM LOOKING FOR A VEHICLE THAT I PAID FOR AND FEEL SAFE IN. I AM A NEW CUSTOMER TO THE TOYOTA BRAND AND PURCHASED THE CAR UNDER THE RECOMMENDATION OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS. I HAVE HAD OTHER VEHICLES PRIOR TO PURCHASING MY TOYOTA LIKE MAZDA AND HONDA AND ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE HAD THEIR SHARE OF PROBLEMS, WHEN WORKING PROPERLY I HAD ALWAYS FELT SAFE. I SENT A LETTER TO TOYOTA TO SEE IF THEY CAN MAKE ME A HAPPY TOYOTA CUSTOMER.

Summary: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE SPEED AND ENGINE RPM DID NOT SLOW ONCE PRESSURE WAS RELEASED FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE MANUFACTURER AND SERVICE DEALER WERE CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TEST DRIVEN BY A SERVICE TECHNICIAN AND THE MALFUNCTION WAS WITNESSED. NO DETERMINATION WAS MADE. THE CONSUMER STATED PUMPING THE BRAKES HAS NO EFFECT WHEN TRYING TO REDUCE SPEED.

Summary: I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE, 4 CYLINDER PASSENGER CAR. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THERE ARE TIMES THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE AND I EXPERIENCE A SERIOUS HESITATION OF ACCELERATION. THE RPMS DON'T EVEN APPEAR TO BE REVVING UP, ITS LIKE THERE IS NOTHING THERE. I HAD ONE EXPERIENCE WHERE I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN, AND THE CAR DID NOTHING, ALMOST GOT HIT BY AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE EXPERIENCED THESE NUMEROUS TIMES. DEALERSHIP TOOK VEHICLE IN, SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THIS PROBLEM IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, BUT IT DOES EXIST.

DASHBOARD HAD TO BE TORN OUT TO FIX AC RATTLE. JBL BLUETOOTH RADIO MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED REPLACING.

Summary: ON 08/05/2006 I WAS DRIVING MY NEW 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY ON THE FREEWAY AT 3:00 AM THEN MY CAR DROPPED TO THE GROUND I COULD SEE THE TIRE WAS PASSING US. SLOWLY I MOVED THE CAR TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. AFTER CHECKING I SAW THE REAR LEFT TIRE HAD BROKEN FROM THE AXLE. TOYOTA DOES NOT COVER. THEY ARE PLAYING WITH ME SAYING SOME BODY WILL COME AFTER TWO WEEKS TO INSPECT MY CAR, THEN THEY CHANGE WITHIN ONE MONTH. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. I AM SURE THAT IS MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND THEY HAVE TO BE VERY SERIOUS. I AND MY FAMILY WERE LUCKY THAT HAPPENED AT NIGHT WHEN NO CAR WAS BEHIND US, OTHERWISE THEY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. NOW I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO.

THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WHEN VEHICLES HAVE HAD TO MOVE AROUND MINE TO AVOID A COLLISION. THE VEHICLE HALTS AT 10-30 MPH WHEN IT'S SHIFTING AND CONTINUALLY PLACES MY FAMILY IN HARMS WAY. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THIS IS COMMON WITH THE NEW AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. MY WIFE WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING FOR APPROXIMATELY 5-10 SECONDS!

Summary: 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE WITH 4 CYLINDER, 5 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION. CAR HESITATES BADLY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP ON A COLD ENGINE, AND DE-ACCELERATING WITHOUT USE OF THE BRAKE IS JERKY. THERE ARE TIMES THAT I MUST TURN FROM A SIDE STREET INTO A HEAVILY-USED ROAD AND ACCELERATE RAPIDLY. THIS IS FRIGHTENING. I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR ALMOST TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES SLOWLY, THEN AFTER 2 OR 3 SECONDS, IT ACCELERATES RAPIDLY.

Summary: MY 2007 CAMRY HAS DEFECTIVE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS THAT RESULTS IN THE INABILITY TO SAFELY CARRY MORE THAN TWO (2) PEOPLE. MY WIFE AND I TRAVELED OUT OF TOWN ON VACATION AND WE ATTEMPTED TO TAKE TWO OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS WITH US BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO DO THIS. THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE DROPPED VERY LOW WHEN THE FOUR OF US LOADED UP AND STARTED TO DEPART ON OUR TRIP. THE CAR WAS VERY HARD TO DRIVE AND ANY BUMPS ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSED THE CAR TO ACTUALLY BOTTOM OUT ON THE SUSPENSION STOPS. ONCOMING VEHICLES AT NIGHT WERE FLASHING THEIR HIGH BEAM LIGHTS BECAUSE MY CAR'S LIGHTS WERE AIMED TOO HIGH AS A RESULT OF THE SUSPENSION SAGGING IN THE REAR. ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE CAR IS THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS OPERATING AT THE HIGH SPEED SETTING DURING HEAVY RAIN. THE CAR ACTUALLY ROCKS LATERALLY SIDE TO SIDE AS THE WIPER ARMS SWEEP ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. THIS MOTION IS VERY SEVERE AND IS VERY TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. THE CAR HAS A VERY LOUD WIND NOISE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES, ALSO DRIVING IN A HEAVY RAIN, THE WATER DISPLACED BY THE FRONT TIRES SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMING INTO THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER COMPARTMENT CAUSING A VERY LOUD NOISE. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL TOYOTA CAMRY VEHICLES, THE LAST ONE PRIOR TO THIS 2007 XLE WAS A 2005 XLE CAMRY. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY OF THE PROBLEMS LISTED IN THIS COMPLAINT. THE 2007 XLE HAS EXCELLENT POWER AND VERY GOOD HIGHWAY MILEAGE. I SINCERELY WISH TOYOTA MOTOR CORP. WOULD FIND A WAY TO CORRECT THESE PROBLEMS. THE DEFECTIVE SUSPENSION HAS FORCED ME TO NOT ALLOW ANY MORE THAN TWO (2) PEOPLE AT A TIME. AND FOR INFORMATION THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE LOAD IS 900 LBS. THE LOAD WEIGHT INCLUDING BAGGAGE WAS APPROX 720 LBS WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE CAR ON THE TRIP.

Summary: I BOUGHT 2007 CAMRY LE AT POWAY TOYOTA LAST 7-25-06. ABOUT 2ND WEEK OF AUGUST I PULLED THE LATCH HOOD OPENER INSIDE MY CAR TO CHECK MY ENGINE AND NEXT THING YOU KNOW THE HANDLE THAT WAS HOLDING THE WIRE BROKE. NOW, EVERYTIME I HAVE TO OPEN MY HOOD I HAVE TO PULL THE WIRE BECAUSE THE PLASTIC THAT WAS HOLDING THE WIRE BROKE OFF. I OWNED A HONDA CIVIC FOR 11 YRS AND MY HOOD OPENER NEVER BREAKS. I HAVE NOT YET REPORT THIS INCIDENT AT POWAY TOYOTA BECAUSE THERE WAS AN INCIDENT AT THAT TIME WHEN I SERVICED MY CAR FOR TEFLON AND SCOTCH GUARD AND WHEN I GOT MY CAR BACK THEY SCRAPE THE BOTTOM FRONT PANEL OF MY CAR AND FOR MY INCONVENIENCE I HAVE TO BRING IT THERE TO HAVE THEM FIX IT FREE OF CHARGE. I WAS NOT HAPPY AT ALL AT THEIR SERVICE AFTER WHAT THEY'VE DONE TO MY BRAND NEW CAR WHICH I JUST BOUGHT LAST 7-25 AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE I WOULD FIND A DEFECT TO MY CAR.

Summary: THROTTLE RESPONSE DELAY IN 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY (4 CYL. AUTO) CAMRY - BOUGHT NEW 4/06 FROM TOYOTA OF NASHUA (NH). DEFECT IS A DELAY OF 1 1/2 SECONDS IN THROTTLE RESPONSE. DELAY WAS MOST NOTICEABLE AT NORMAL URBAN TRAFFIC SPEEDS OF 35 TO 45 MPH. A LIGHT INCREASE IN THROTTLE AT CONSTANT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN THE 35 TO 45 MPH RANGE RESULTED IN THE ENGINE 1) USUALLY NOT REMAINING IN HIGH GEAR 2) HAVING NO RESPONSE FOR 1 1/2 SECONDS, AND 3) THEN ROUGHLY DOWN-SHIFTING, AS IF THE DRIVER HAD CALLED FOR STRONG ACCELERATION. THE CAR'S SPEED "SAGGED", AND THEN THE CAR'S ENGINE OVERSPED. THE DRIVER THEN HAD TO DECREASE THROTTLE TO PREVENT OVERSPEED IN TRAFFIC. PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC BECOMES UNPREDICTABLE AND DANGEROUS. DELAY AND/OR OVER-RESPONSE IN THE THROTTLE CONTROL'S ACTION MAY CREATE SKIDS ON WET AND ICY ROADS. LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVERS MAY BECOME UN-NERVED BY THIS KIND OF THROTTLE RESPONSE. THIS CAR WILL HESITATE FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE ACCELERATING FROM VIRTUALLY ANY SPEED (BEHAVIOR NOT SEEN WHEN ACCELERATING FROM DEAD STOP), REGARDLESS OF HOW HARD THE DRIVER PRESSES THE GAS PEDAL. PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN MOVING AT VIRTUALLY ANY SPEED AND THEN QUICKLY PRESSING AND HOLDING THE GAS PEDAL DOWN SO AS TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY. THIS BEHAVIOR IS NOT LIKE ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN, INCLUDING A RENTAL 2005 4 CYLINDER CAMRY THAT I DROVE FOR A WEEK IN THE COLORADO MOUNTAINS LAST SUMMER (2005). SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT CAR IS UNPREDICTABLE IN SITUATIONS WHERE ONE MUST MOVE THE CAR TO AVOID TRAFFIC. THIS BEHAVIOR IS REPEATABLE AND THE DELAY CAN BE UP TO 2 SEC. IN LENGTH BEFORE THE CAR EVEN BEGINS TO ACCELERATE. THIS BEHAVIOR IS ALSO SEEN BY NUMEROUS OTHER OWNERS OF '07 CAMRYS AS CAN BE SEEN IN POSTINGS ON WWW.EDMUNDS.COM (CLICK ON FORUMS TAB AND SEARCH FOR "CAMRY HESITATION"). THE ISSUE IS NOT ONE OF LACK OF HORSEPOWER. THE ISSUE IS LONG AND UNPREDICTABLE RESPONSE TO THROTTLE INPUT. THERE ARE ALSO VERY ANNOYING DRIVABLE ISSUES WITH THIS CAR THAT ARE RELATED TO TRANSMISSION/ENGINE BEHAVIOR, BUT I AM ADDRESSING ONLY THE SAFETY ISSUE IN THIS COMPLAINT. EFFORTS TO RESOLVE ISSUE HAVE NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL; TOYOTA'S RESPONSE HAS BEEN THAT THE CAR IS OPERATING "NORMALLY" AND "AS DESIGNED." IF SO, THERE IS A DESIGNED-IN SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS CAR.

THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND TO BRAKE PRESSURE AND CONTINUED ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE PUSH BUTTON IGNITION, AND THE VEHICLE SLOWED TO A STOP. A BYSTANDER ALERTED THE CONTACT THAT SMOKE AND FLAMES WERE COMING FROM THE LEFT FRONT TIRE. THE CONTACT QUICKLY EXITED THE VEHICLE, AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ALERTED, BUT THE TIRE HAD ALREADY BURNED ITSELF OUT UPON THEIR ARRIVAL. THE POLICE WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER TO AWAIT INSPECTION.

WHEN TAKEN BACK TO SERVICE DESK, DEALER STATED THAT I NEEDED TO WORK THE GREASE IN AND THAT IT SHOULD GO AWAY IN A FEW DAYS, IF NOT TO CALL THEM BACK TO HAVE STEERING KNUCKLE REPLACED. PROBLEM STILL THERE AFTER 300+ MILES OF DRIVING SINCE HAVING BEARINGS REPACKED.

THAT LED TO LONG 3 TO 5 SECONDS LAG TIMES BEFORE THE CAR WOULD RESPOND WHEN PRESSING DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO OVERDRIVE WHEN A STEADY ACCELERATION WAS ALL THAT WAS NEEDED. I FINALLY TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TODAY; I THOUGHT THAT I WOULD ALLOW A 'BREAK-IN' PERIOD TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM RESOLVED ITSELF. THE MOMENT THAT I BEGAN TO DESCRIBE THE PROBLEM, I WAS STOPPED AND ASKED IF IT WAS A 2007 CAMRY LE. AN AFFIRMATIVE RESPONSE BROUGHT AN ANSWER THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO; IT HAD BEEN REPORTED TO TOYOTA. APPARENTLY TO DEFLECT WHAT MUST HAVE LOOKED LIKE RISING ANGER, I WAS TOLD THAT THE SERVICE MANGER'S DAUGHTER HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. A CALL TO TOYOTA OF AMERICA BROUGHT A RESPONSE THAT THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING AS IT WAS DESIGNED (SO, I GUESS IT WAS DESIGNED TO STALL WHEN MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN, CHANGING LANES ON THE INTERSTATE, TRYING TO GO FORWARD, ETC). MY ANGER IS 1) THAT THEY SOLD ME A DEFECTIVE CAR, 2) THAT THEY KNOW IT IS A FACTORY DEFECT BUT CHOOSE NOT TO FIX THE PROBLEM (I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE STILL 'THINKING' ABOUT A SOLUTION), AND 3) THAT I WASN'T NOTIFIED OF THIS RATHER MAJOR DEFECT (AND WHY IS TOYOTA ALLOWED TO CONTINUE TO SELL THESE CARS WITHOUT THE CAVEAT THAT THERE IS A FACTORY DEFECT THAT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND TOYOTA HAS NO PLANS TO PROVIDE A REPAIR)? I HAVE LOOKED AT OVER A DOZEN WEB SIGHTS WHERE MEMBERS HAVE COMPLAINED, BUT I HAVE NOT SEEN A MENTION OF THE REASON FOR THE PROBLEM OR A SOLUTION OF WHAT TO DO. SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED BY THIS ERRATIC BEHAVIOR.

THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES THAT I HAVE TO MOVE OUT OF THE TRAFFIC BECAUSE BY THE TIME MY CAR STARTED ACCELERATING, THE CAR IN FRONT IS BRAKING. THE CONSUMER WAS NEVER ABLE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED SO HE TRADED IT IN FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO JERK AND STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE THROTTLE SENSOR AND THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPLACEMENT, THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN INSPECTED BY THE DEALER WHO DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM, YET ATTRIBUTED THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION TO THE FLOOR MAT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. AFTERWARDS, THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ALERTED.

BECAUSE IT IS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM, THE DEALER PROVIDED A PHONE NUMBER FOR THE TOYOTA EXPERIENCE CENTER FOR ASSISTANCE. THEY GAVE ME A REFERENCE NUMBER BUT TOLD ME TO CONTACT THE DEALER.

I NOTICED THIS WHILE LEAVING WORK ONE MORNING. I WAS CROSSING AN INTERSECTION, PRESSED THE GAS AND THE CAR HESITATED FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 SECONDS BEFORE REGAINING POWER ACCELERATE. EVER SINCE THIS INCIDENT, THIS CAR HAS CONTINUED TO HESITATE WHEN COMING TO A SLOW STOP AND THEN ACCELERATING TO CLEAR AN INTERSECTION. WHEN THE POWER IS NEEDED, IT'S NOT THERE AND I HAVE HAD SOME CLOSE CALLS DO TO THIS LOSS IN POWER. WHEN COMING TO A SLOW STOP TO MAKE A TURN, AND THEN ACCELERATING AFTER THE TURN, THE CAR LAGS BEFORE GAINING SPEED AND YOU CAN HEAR THE TRANSMISSION HUNTING TO GET BACK INTO GEAR. WHEN DRIVING IN STOP AND GO RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE CAR HESITATES WHEN THE GAS IS PRESSED AND THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD SHORTLY AFTER THAT. THIS MAKES THIS CAR SOMEWHAT DANGEROUS TO CONTROL IN TIGHT AREAS SUCH AS RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ON 11/1/06 TO HAVE TSB TSB EG056-06 (SOFTWARE FLASH) PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE TO ASSIST WITH THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE SHIFT POINTS. AFTER THIS WAS COMPLETED, I REALLY DID NOT NOTICE A DIFFERENCE IN THE SHIFTING POINTS. THE FOLLOWING MORNING WHEN CROSSING THE SAME INTERSECTION I NORMALLY CROSS, THE CAR HESITATED SEVERELY AGAIN, IN MY OPINION SLIGHTLY LONGER THAN BEFORE THE TSB WAS IMPLEMENTED. IT IS DISCONCERTING TO KNOW THAT YOU CAN NOT PREDICT HOW YOUR CAR WILL PERFORM IN NORMAL DRIVING SITUATIONS, THEREFORE, I AM NERVOUS WHEN DRIVING THIS CAR ANYWHERE AT ANYTIME. I HAVE NEVER OWNED OR DRIVEN A VEHICLE THAT HESITATED CONSISTENTLY LIKE THIS AND I HOPE THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT CAN BE FIXED IN AN EXPEDITED TIME FRAME AS THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE.

I TOOK THE CAR TO A TOYOTA DEALER IN SLIDELL, LA AS I WAS OUT OF TOWN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CONDENSER FOR $625.00 AT MY EXPENSE. I WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO "SCREENS" OR ANY TYPE OF MATERIALS THAT COULD KEEP THIS FROM OCCURRING AGAIN. THERE IS HOWEVER A TSB FOR THE SAME THING ON THE 2007 COROLLA. I FEEL THAT TOYOTA HAS A FLAW IN THE GRILL OF THE 2007 CAMRY AND IT SHOULD BE REMEDIED. ON THE ISSUE OF ACCELERATION, I LIVE IN A CONGESTED TRAFFIC AREA IN FL AND DO NOT FEEL THAT I CAN SAFELY "PULL OUT" INTO TRAFFIC UNLESS I HAVE A GREAT DEAL OF CLEARANCE. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY TOYOTA. I AM AN AVID FAN OF TOYOTA PRODUCTS. THIS IS MY 3RD CAMRY AND I OWNED A SCION TC AS WELL SO THIS IS NOT ABOUT DOWNING A TOYOTA PRODUCT. I BELIEVE IN TOYOTA. I JUST THINK NOW IS THE TIME TO RECOGNIZE A PROBLEM AND REMEDY THAT FOR THE CONSUMER. I WOULD HATE FOR SOMEONE TO GET KILLED BEFORE THEY ADDRESS THIS ISSUE.

Summary: I PURCHASED MY 07 COROLLA LE ON 9/19/07 FROM A DEALER IN PA. AFTER I DROVE THE CAR THE NEXT DAY A WAS FEELING CAR SICK, ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING TURNS. IT SEEMED THAT THINGS WERE MOVING IN MY PERIPHERAL VISION. ON FURTHER INSPECTION THERE ARE MAJOR RIPPLES IN THE WINDSHIELD; I JUST SO HAPPENED TO GET A ROCK CHIP ON FRIDAY THE 13TH AND DEALER SUGGESTED I GET IT REPAIRED. I ASK THE DEALER ABOUT THE RIPPLES THEY SEEMED DUMB FOUNDED AND DIDN'T SEEM TO KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. SO I TOOK THERE ADVISE AND TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THEIR RECOMMENDED FACILITY. I THEN ASKED THAT TECH. AND HIS SUPERVISOR THE SAME QUESTION AND THEY BOTH SAID THERE WAS A MAJOR DEFECT IN THE WINDSHIELD AND TO HAVE IT REPLACED ASAP. I JUST LEFT THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM INSPECT THE BACK WINDOW SEALS AND TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AND AN OIL CHANGE WHEN 5 MINUTES LATER I RETURNED WITH THE VERDICT FROM THE GLASS PLACE. THEY INSPECTED THE WINDSHIELD AND DECIDE TO REPLACE IT. I GOT THE NEW ONE AND THIS ONE ALSO HAS A SLIGHT RIPPLE NOT AS BAD AS THE FIRST BUT STILL THERE AND NOTICEABLE TO ME AND THE SERVICE MANAGER AND ASSISTANT MANAGER. THEY WENT AND LOOKED AT THE OTHERS ON THE LOT AND STATED THAT THEY ARE ALL LIKE THAT. I DIDN'T CARE THEY WERE ALL DEFECTIVE I WANTED MINE REPAIRED CORRECTLY AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS UP TO TOYOTA TO DECIDE THE RESULT. UPON FILING A COMPLAINT TO TOYOTA EXPERIENCE CENTER THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WILL NOT BE REPLACED AGAIN THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT THAT ALL THE VEHICLES ON THE LOT ARE THE SAME WAY. I STATED THAT I CAN'T HELP THAT ALL YOUR WINDSHIELDS ON THE LOT ARE DEFECTIVE SHE KEPT STATING THAT IT WASN'T A DEFECT. I TOLD HER IF THEY DIDN'T THINK IT WAS DEFECTIVE THEY WOULDN'T HAVE REPLACED IT THE FIRST TIME. I FOUND SOME OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS OF TOYOTA VEHICLES LEXUS, MY COROLLA TACOMA AND SEDONA AND A FEW OTHER PEOPLE I HAVE SPOKEN TO ALSO WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. TOYOTA CONTINUES TO GIVE YOU DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELDS WITH RIPPLES AND TELL YOU THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT.


Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

Summary: I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE WITH A 4 CYLINDER ENGINE AND 5 SPEED TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION HAS A SIGNIFICANT HESITATION PROBLEM WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE SUCH AS GETTING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. THE HESITATION IS SO SEVERE THAT I HAVE TO ADJUST MY DRIVING PATTERN TO AVOID HAVING AN ACCIDENT.


Component: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Summary: NEW 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY 4CYL , 5 SPD A/T , EXCESSIVE LAG TIME WITH THE ACCELERATOR. VERY UNRESPONSIVE . I HAVE HAD MANY CLOSE CALLS WHILE CHANGING LANES AND MAKING LEFT TURNS BECAUSE YOU HIT THE GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENS FOR SECONDS. YOU HAVE TO GUN THE PEDAL IN THE HOPES IT MOVES QUICKLY TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. IT HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED OR RPM. DEALER SAYS ,IT'S DESIGNED THAT WAY. UNNACCEPTABLE.

Summary: THIS COMPLAINT IS ABOUT MY 2007 CAMRY TOYOTA V-6. AFTER 1 MONTH OF OWNERSHIP I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT WHEN I REDUCE MY SPEED AND STARTED TO SPEED UP THERE IS A HESITATION IN THE CAR ACCELERATION BUT THE GAS WOULD STILL CONTINUE TO FLOW. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO BURN THE EXTRA GAS TO FAST AND THE CAR BURST FORWARD TO FAST. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO ADJUST THIS GAS FLOW PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THAT TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND I WOULD HAVE TO LEARN TO ADJUST TO THIS PROBLEM. NOTHING ELSE WAS DONE. I CALL TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CTR. AND MADE THE SAME REPORT. I WAS GIVEN A CLAM REFERENCE # 200610080197 AND TOLD TO HAVE A NICE DAY. I WAS NOT TOLD ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WHEN I PURCHASE THE CAR, NOW I FEEL STUCK.


Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

Summary: EVENTS LEADING TO FAILURE: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION EXHIBITED 3RD-4TH GEAR SHIFT FLARE WHEN COLD DAILY AFTER NEW CAR PUT INTO SERVICE. DEALER REPAIRED BY REPLACING TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY PER MFGR TSB. FAILURE: AFTER VALVE BODY REPLACEMENT, TRANSMISSION DEVELOPED NEW PROBLEM (AND ORIGINAL SHIFT FLARE PROBLEM PERSISTED). AFTER DECELERATING FROM 30 MPH TO 10 MPH AND COASTING, MADE RIGHT TURN AT INTERSECTION AND THEN DEPRESSED ACCELERATOR ABOUT 20% DOWN. POWERTRAIN DID NOT ENGAGE - VEHICLE WAS ESSENTIALLY IN NEUTRAL, AND BEGAN SLOWING DOWN. DISENGAGED CONDITION PERSISTED 2-3 SECONDS. THEN, A THUNK WAS HEARD, THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED, AND THE VEHICLE HARSHLY JOLTED FORWARD. THIS DEFECT IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE LOSS OF POWER FOR 2-3 SECONDS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT, ESPECIALLY IF IT OCCURS DURING LANE CHANGES, AVOIDANCE MANEUVERS, ETC. WHAT WAS DONE TO CORRECT FAILURE: NO ACTION YET TAKEN. WILL RETURN TO DEALER FOR ADDITIONAL REPAIRS.


Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM)

Summary: AT 200 MILES NOTICED SLIPPAGE IN TRANSMISSION. REPORTED PROBLEM TO DEALER, BUT WAS IGNORED AND TOLD THAT THE COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM NEEDED TO GET ADJUSTED TO THE DRIVER. OVER A PERIOD OF TIME THE PROBLEM WORSENED IN SPIT OF COMPLAINTS TO THE SERVICE CENTER. ON 11/16/06 THE CAR WAS FINALLY TAKEN IN FOR REPAIRS (I WAS TOLD BY A CUSTOMER REP. THAT THERE WAS A VALVE THAT WAS DEFECTIVE AND TOYOTA WOULD REPLACE IT. THE CAR WAS EXPECTED ON 11/17/06, BUT DUE TO A PROBLEM IT WAS SET FOR DELIVERY ON 11/18/06 AT 9AM. WHEN I WENT TO PICKED UP THE CAR THE SERVICE DIRECTOR SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM, AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I WAS SHOCKED AND DISAPPOINTED AT THIS NEW DEVELOPMENT. TOYOTA ARROGANCE AND THE DEALERSHIPS INCOMPETENCE AND IMPOLITE RESPONSE TO MY INITIAL CONCERNS IS INEXCUSABLE. THE MATTER AT THIS TIME IS UNRESOLVED SINCE I NO LONGER WANT THIS CAR.


Component: STEERING:COLUMN

Summary: SUSPENSION AND STEERING. I HAVE NOTICED WHEN I AM DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 60+MPH, THAT ANY DIPS OR BUMPS CAUSES MY CARS TO SWAY SIDE TO SIDE, AND THE STEERING WHEEL JERKS IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 11/11/06 AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I KNOW WHY, BECAUSE THEY DID NOT DO A TRUE TEST DRIVE. MY CAR WAS CHECKED IN WITH 3544 MILES AND WHEN I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP SOMETHING TOLD ME TO CHECK MY MILEAGE AND IT SHOWED 3548 AND AT THAT TIME I WAS 1/2 A MILE FROM THE DEALERSHIP. SO, I KNOW THEY DID NOT TAKE MY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY, SO I WILL BE TAKING MY CAR BACK.

Summary: WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT ON AN INCLINE THE VEHICLE HESITATED (DID NOT ACCELERATE) FOR 1-2 SECONDS WHILE IN THE PATH OF CROSSING TRAFFIC BEFORE LURCHING AND ACCELERATING INTO THE PARKING LOT AT TOO HIGH OF SPEED. THE HESITATION AND LURCHING OCCURRED AS THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE SEARCHING FOR THE RIGHT GEAR. THIS IS BECOMING A MORE AND MORE COMMON OCCURRENCE DURING CITY DRIVING (I.E. LESS THAN 40 MPH). VEHICLE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO ADJUST THIS ISSUE VIA SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD OVER A MONTH AGO.(TSB EG056-06 RECALIBRATE ECM) THE TECHNICIAN SAID THIS DOWNLOAD MIGHT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. SINCE THEN THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME MORE COMMON THAN BEFORE AT LOW SPEEDS, BUT LESS FREQUENT AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALL 2007 4 CYL VEHICLES WITH ECT, BUT NO OFFICIAL FIX HAS COME FROM TOYOTA. I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS LIKE THIS WITH THE VEHICLE SINCE PURCHASE IN MARCH OF 2006. THE DEALERSHIP AND TOYOTA HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED NUMEROUS TIMES ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND NO RESOLUTION YET. MY CONCERN IS THAT DURING WINTER THE HESITATION AND/OR LURCHING WILL CONTRIBUTE TO A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE ON SNOW OR ICE.

Summary: THE CONTACT STATED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS UNABLE TO CHANGE GEARS. THE SERVICE DEALER DETERMINED THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. UPDATED 12/28/2006 - THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM SECOND TO THIRD GEAR OR FROM THIRD TO FOURTH.
